February 10th- Twelve-Year Anniversary

Today,
on a Saturday,
just like today,
maybe not quite so wet...
A new constellation of three friends
ventured off to San Francisco,
in search of grace...
Second-year graduate students
searching and yearning to explore,
the desires of the heart...
and thus began a two-and-a-half
year every other weekend journey
to the labyrinths at Grace Cathedral,
to explore our paths in life..

I wrote in my journal that day...

Walked the labyrinth with Laura and Kimberly... On the way down we talked about plans for our dissertations, pilgrimages, going to Europe, manifesting the ability to do so and letting go of the blocks that keep us from our Souls path...

With Kimberly taking the pictures...
Here I am circling Laura at the center
of the outdoor labyrinth...

Circling
and circling,
back and forth,
until we meet at the center point...

It is as if we stand as columns at the entree way... Laura and I welcome Kimberly, who is having her own experience of childlike play...

(Will any of us ever forget Kenneth???!!! Or, what about the two older men, one outside and one inside, bent with time, dried up as old wood, childhood forgotten???)

Inside Grace Cathedral, I write...

I pray for the parts of me that are dry,
bent with time and burdens,
responsibilities, grief, missing years,
all in me that has lost expression of joy and passion...

Today... eleven years later...
with many twists and turns behind us...
My life is so full, so rich, so filled with joy and wonder...
and filled with Laura and Kimberly as soul friends,
wherever we are in this bigger labyrinth,
that takes us in and out,
far away and near
to the desire of our hearts...

I love you both
and give thanks for all we have shared...
