A Faerie Bower Begins

What an amazing day...

Ulla and I began Marilyn Radzat's second class
through Gourd College Online...
The Faerie Bower

I got so excited to begin
that I almost forgot to take a picture of my gourd
before I began to make the marks for cutting...

You will now hear me say, over and over,
how in love I am with power tools...

Ulla and I both used the dremel
with the flat disk for the initial cuts...

Look what was inside!!!

Doesn't it look ancient,
like a fantastic archaeological great find!

An ancient tomb
with treasure inside...

This piece was carefully saved
for inspiration to come....

We then moved on to this jigsaw that my parents
have had for about twenty-years!!!

I was a bit nervous,
to say the least, of using this tool...
but, it didn't take long
for Ulla and me to get the gist of how to use it...

Ulla photographed me using the dremel...

and then we began with the clay, mirrored tiles, and beads...

After covering the inside of our gourds,
we completed the bottom piece...

Ulla's is on the left, mine is on the right...

Now, I would like to take you on a tour
of the inside of my gourd from start to the finish
of today's lesson...

Today felt like Holy work...

I wanted to do nothing
but work with the gourd, clay, tiles, and beads...

and be...
in this inner, sacred space that is me...

I am so pleased and grateful for such simple beauty...
