Shifting Sand...

Did you know that there are five kinds of sand?

Or that there is a "wrong" sand to use in a project?

I do now!!!!!

Turns out that all of the sand that I ordered,
and that Milt and I moved all over over the yard,
was not the right sand...

So we had to dig it up... and have it hauled away...

"Delta Sand" is very fine and full of dirt.
It doesn't drain or pack well around rocks...
I have since found out that Delta sand
is used to fill in around electrical wiring and pipes,
not labyrinths and walkways...

Here is our new sand, the correct kind from Wheeler Zamaroni (the wrong kind came from another source). The correct kind is called "concrete sand" and has rough edges, drains well, rolls easily under the stones you are placing, and lock into each other when water is added to the pressing around the stones you are placing...

as we begin to move the new sand... I discover that I calculated wrong and ordered about double too much sand...

am I in sand or quick sand....

Luckily, Lynnette and Michelle are there to set the path right and help me to find my way again...

and my dear husband says...
"This is a good opportunity for me to learn
that I can be wrong... but not bad..."
