The Third Holy Night ~ The Gift of A Visit

You came in a dream…
Walking down the vineyard lane,
your smile lighting a fire at the core of my being
as I remember
what it is like to drink in…
the rich soil
of ancient vines,
the alchemy of fermentation
and bare branches of Winter…
To taste…
tiny fisted promises
of plump and juicy orbs,
to hear…
once again your laugh
and the way you offered me bubbles
in a long, cool cylinder of glass
where even now I can see…
the reflection of who I might become
as you cooked me dinner,
feeding me when I was oh so vulnerable…
You took such care
to ease my fragile pain
and awaken those plumed
echoes of fireworks,
the scent…
of sulfur rising from ashes
like the wings of the phoenix
from ages before when I was just a whisper…
of a child…
In this moment,
I remember the awakening touch…
of your gift of friendship
in this Winter’s dark night visit…
