Will You Turn...

Will you turn,
step out into this crisp,
starlit night,
and take me back
to twelve and thirteen,
sixteen, then somewhere in my twenties,
find me in that tilled field at thirty,
again at forty,
and now this dance into our middle fifties,
younger even as we are older…
Moving in and out of my dreams
where I still remember that first kiss,
that touch so soft in those love notes
broken over the years in
rough and tumbling waters that have taken us down
to places few know…
You are,
and always will be,
that boy, now a man, who reminds me
that I am changing,
again and again,
and again…
Somewhere in my soul
we are one,
even as we walk on,
separate ways
as two…
